Elmsett United 1-4 Great Blakenham Chequers

28 Oct 2018 by Samuel Batram

Goal scorer: Jack Gage

Man of the match: Jacob Tampion

Attendance: 9

Elmsett welcomed Blakenham to The Shed knowing this would be their toughest test so far this season but started strongly and created several chances without managing to find the back of the net.

As the half drew to a seemingly goalless close Blakenham took advantage of being given an extra yard of space and raced into a two goal lead with two unstoppable strikes.

United knew that they needed grab the next goal and do so with an emphatic finish from Gage in the opening moments second half. Unfortunately, the home side’s fight back was short-lived as the Blakenham player fired past Alleston and soon after the opponent’s forward headed in a fourth to round off the scoring.

So Elmsett fall to their first defeat of the season but still remain top having played a game more. United will travel to Amboed United next Sunday aiming to get back to winning ways at the earliest opportunity.
