Elmsett United 6-4 Wetherden FC

11 Nov 2018 by Samuel Batram

Goal scorers: Ross Bray, Daryl Alexander x2, Keiran Dilloway x2, Aidan Bignell

Man of the match: Aidan Bignell

Attendance: 13

Elmsett aimed to get their season back on track after a run of poor results but started in the worst possible fashion as they fell behind almost immediately as the Wetherden forward fired past Warner from distance.

Bray soon replied for the blues as the wind carried his free kick into the net to equalise. Alexander then gave United the lead as he rocketed the ball in just 30 seconds after he came on.

Wetherden managed to level the score just before halftime as their winger broke from the left and evaded several challenges before scoring.

The second half started with Elmsett on the top but Wetherden went ahead as their winger finished from what seemed to be an offside position. VAR can’t come soon enough.

The goal sprung the home side into action and Dilloway converted Bignell’s cross to bring the score again level. Bignell then turned from provider to scorer as he flicked Elmsett into the lead.

Dilloway and Alexander then added further goals to put the game beyond Wetherden but they managed to grab a consolation in the dying minutes to round off the scoring.

So Elmsett earn their first win in almost a month and look forward to the quarter finals of the Suffolk FA Sunday Shield.
