Elmsett United 7-2 Felixstowe Rangers Reserves

27 Jan 2019 by Samuel Batram

Goal scorers: Jack Gage, Callum Bentley x2, Daryl Alexander x2, Aidan Bignell x2

Man of the match: Danny Clarke

Attendance: 12

Elmsett returned to league action for the first time in over a month and despite a slow start they found themselves ahead thanks to Gage’s deflected effort.

The away side continued to dominate until Bentley converted Bignell’s cross to double the lead. Minutes later Bentley finished again from close range to give United a 3-0 lead.

The blues were now fully in control and Alexander headed another excellent Bignell cross into the net to put the result beyond doubt before half time. Rangers, however, responded to a short back pass and reduced the arrears to 4-1 just before the break.

The second half began with Elmsett in full control and they soon found themselves further in front as Bignell finished from distance. The sixth shortly followed as Bignell capitalised on the goalkeeper’s mistake from Everett’s corner.

Midway through the second half both teams were reduced to 10 men due to a dangerous challenge from the Rangers defender which resulted in Bignell responding with a right hook.

As both teams began to tire and freeze, Felixstowe managed to grab another consolation from a corner before Dilloway squared for Alexander to complete the scoring.

So Elmsett remain unbeaten in 2019 and look forward to the trip to Capel next Sunday.
