Capel Plough 1-4 Elmsett United

22 Apr 2019 by Samuel Batram

Goal scorers: Kiefer Bultitude, Isaac Everett, Aidan Bignell x2

Man of the match: Danny Clarke

Attendance: 15

United travelled to Capel knowing a much improved performance from last week’s victory would be required. The away side started the strongest as Bultitude and Alexander caused havoc for the Capel defence.

Bultitude soon gave Elmsett the lead with a smart finish but Capel quickly levelled as Warner was beaten by a cruel deflection. Recognising the space in wide positions Elmsett switched to a 4-3-3 and the tactical change had an instant impact as Everett, now playing much further forward, volleyed home Alexander’s cross.

After half time Capel tried to push forward but the Elmsett defence comfortably dealt with any attack.

United continued to expose the space behind the full backs and eventually extended their lead as Bignell tapped home from close range after wonderful work from Tampion down the right. Bignell rounded off the scoring with a thunderous effort from outside the box which nearly broke the net.

So Elmsett make it 3 wins in a row and welcome Walton Wanderers to The Shed next Sunday for the final home game of the season.
